The Pinky Nail
What is the deal with guys leaving one or both pinky nails extra long? At first I thought there were just a few creepy guys at the poker tables in Vegas who wanted them to peel oranges or something. In Vegas I saw about one of these a month; at the Commerce in LA, there is an average of about one of these guys per table. The tend to be middle eastern or Asian guys in their 30's or 40's. Brigid's Turkish friend says she thinks it's "a pimp thing... or a macho thing." Has anybody else noticed this or do you have any information about it? I am absolutely unwilling to ask someone who actually has it, so I'm depending on reader comments here.

Interesting... so I can assume all those guys regularly snort coke?

Haha, this is hilarious. Actually, my Dad (so, a mid-50 year old white guy) sometimes does it too. From personal observation, I think I know why he in particular has a pretty long pinky nail. He has enormously thick fingers, and he often has trouble picking up small objects (it's like using baseball bats instead of chopsticks). He kind of scoops things into his palm or against his other fingers. He doesn't have a prayer of picking of paper on a flat, smooth surface otherwise.
Well, that's my personal opinion anyway
Lauren, in light of Derrick's comments, I think you need to face facts:
your father keeps a specially manicured pinky nail just for extracting boogers from his nostrils. Sorry to break it to you.
It's definitely to snort coke.
